MVIWATA with the financial support of Farmer Organization Support Centre in Africa (FOSCA) of the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is implementing a three years project aiming at improving productivity and marketing of smallholder farmers in 5 districts, namely Kiteto, Kongwa, Mbarali, Mvomero and Njombe. The project also aims at strengthening organisational capacity of farmers, providing financial services and improving communication and information access among farmers.
Project Goal:
The goal of this project is to strengthen the capacity of Farmer Organizations under MVIWATA to facilitate access to improved services and increased incomes for their members
The specific objectives of this project are:
1. Strengthen the institutional capacity of MVIWATA;
2. Enhance the Capacity of Farmer Organizations on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for improved quantity and quality supply to markets;
3. Enhance capacities of Farmer Organizations on management of Financing Mechanisms such as Savings and Credit Co-operatives (SACCOS);
4. Improve communication and access to information and knowledge by members
Project Outcomes are:
1. Improved capacity of MVIWATA to respond to the needs of its members
2. Increased sales volumes of members’ produce
3. Increased value of produce sold by members
4. Improved access to credit by members
5. Increased access to market information for supported SHFs
6. An operational knowledge management system in place
