Activities being implemented by MVIWATA focus on the specific needs of its members (the small-holder farmers) to achieve the objectives under five strategic interventions areas that constitute MVIWATA strategic plan for 2010/2014.
Implemented activities covers therefore organisational strengthening for farmer groups and networks at all levels, capacity building interventions on lobbying and advocacy for farmers, economic empowerment through market access and access to rural financial services as well as institutional strengthening of MVIWATA as an organization to deliver effective services to its members.
We can’t mention the success in projects we have being implementing without recognising the partnership we have we receive as an important vehicle to achieve set objectives. The summarised and presented under are some activities being implemented:
- Facilitating formation and strengthening of farmers’ groups and networks through sensitisation meetings, exchange visits and through training workshops on leadership at national, middle and grassroots level networks.
- Strengthening capacities of farmers’ groups and networks leaders by developing appropriate training manuals to improve MVIWATA capacity building
- Strengthening the capacity of small-scale farmers so that they are capable to influence local, national, regional and international policies and effectively participate in decision making on issues of their
- Facilitating formation and strengthening of production and marketing groups and link them with extension service providers to increase
- Capacity building for smallholder farmers on production, entrepreneurship, financial management, business skills, leaderships skills, group and network management, and lobbying and
- Facilitating farmers access to reliable markets through construction of market structures, access to market information through MAMIS and linkage of farmers with
- Facilitating farmers access to financial services through formation and strengthening of rural microfinance
- Facilitating farmers and community at large access to information through knowledge managements system that is in place, being coordinated under MVIWATA communication
- Organising and participating in campaign, lobbying and advocacy events at all
- Awareness creation and capacity building interventions for farmers on cross cutting issues such gender, HIV/AIDS & climate change and its impact on
- Networking and partnership building between MVIWATA members and other stakeholders at all
- Capacity building for MVIWATA staff and leaders to ensure future
- Monitoring and evaluation of organizational capacity and the progress of MVIWATA
- Establishing and maintaining MVIWATA membership database through collection and uploading to the database accurate membership information
